About

Don Maher

Sales Recruiter, Trainer, Coach and Enablement Specialist for companies in the semiconductor, aerospace & defense, factory automation and other high tech industries

Over 30 years of valuable, hands on experience

I began my recruiting career at Computer Sciences Corporation and then managed all recruiting efforts at the Fairchild Semiconductor Research Lab in Palo Alto, CA.

My journey continued as an applications engineer at Avantek, then to Watkins-Johnson where I managed Applications Engineering in the microwave amplifier group.

My career then took me to Applied Materials, where I started as a marketing specialist and eventually rose to VP positions in Marketing, Sales, and Service. Following that, I joined Lam Research as VP of North American Sales and Field Operations, reporting directly to the company president.

My Philosophy on Recruiting

Through my decades of experience, I’ve learned three key principles:

1. Context Matters: People who have succeeded in a role and context similar to the role and context you’re hiring for are more likely to perform well for you. This is particularly crucial for small, lesser-known companies with new and unproven products.

2. Career Advancement: Your role should represent a step up for candidates in terms of career advancement, compensation, and/or responsibility.

3. Transparency: More disclosure from employers and candidates during interviews leads to fewer surprises and better matches.

If you’re looking for just the right sales professional, or are interested in improving your sales effectiveness, I can help you.

Why us?

My work is based on 30+ years of experience recruiting and managing engineers, marketers and salespeople, including managers and executives.

These people have collectively sold and supported more than $10B of manufacturing equipment, components, instrumentation, services, software and spare parts.
