About
Don Maher
Engineering, Marketing and Sales Recruiter for companies in the semiconductor, aerospace, factory automation and other high tech industries
Over 30 years of valuable, hands on experience
I began my recruiting career at Computer Sciences Corporation and then managed all recruiting efforts at the Fairchild Semiconductor Research Lab in Palo Alto, CA.
My journey continued as an applications engineer at Avantek, then to Watkins-Johnson where I managed Applications Engineering in the microwave amplifier group.
My career then took me to Applied Materials, where I started as a marketing specialist and eventually rose to VP positions in Marketing, Sales, and Field Service. Following that, I joined Lam Research as VP of North American Sales and Field Operations, reporting directly to the company president.
My Philosophy on Recruiting
Through my decades of experience, I’ve learned three key principles:
1. Context: People who have succeeded in a context similar to your’s are more likely to perform well for you. This is particularly crucial for small, lesser-known companies with new and unproven products.
2. Transparency: More disclosure and less “selling” during interviews leads to better matches, fewer surprises and longer retention.
3. Accomplishments: Quantified accomplishments, relative to the candidate’s peers, competitors, and the market, are better indicators of a successful person than titles and duties.
If you’re looking for just the right engineer, marketer or sales professional, I can help you hire them.
Why us?
My work is based on 30+ years of experience recruiting and managing engineers, marketers and salespeople, including managers and executives.
These people have collectively sold and supported more than $10B of manufacturing equipment, components, instrumentation, services, software and spare parts.
